Page 1 of 2 The charity ‘Help an African Schoolchild Trust’ is non denominational and was officially formed in 1994 and presently works in Tanzania and Zambia. The Aim of the charity is: Objectives: To raise funds for individual schools to buy essential equipment and materials, with particular emphasis on assisting special needs schools. To assist financially and practically in minor and major building projects. To assist women’s groups in their development. How do we achieve this aim and these objectives? The charity obtains money through fund raising both locally and nationally. Local fund raising has been extremely successful. We have raised over £74,000 from our Abseil for Africa event and over £86,000 from our Mount Kilimanjaro Charity Challenge, plus numerous amounts from other small fund raising events. We have had much financial support from both the States of Jersey and the States of Guernsey Overseas Aid committees. The support from local schools and companies has been amazing and it shows that schoolchildren and the local community really do have a concern for others.
