The Start
You are now at the start of St Catherines breakwater - the start of the Great North Coast Charity Challenge. From the breakwater continue along the road for about 50 yards to a road sign showing a motorbike above a car. Take the upper footpath, which is marked by a granite signpost "Upper walk to Flicquet". At the top of the climb just before the tarmac road turn right through some wooden rails. Rejoin the road, (La Rue de la Perruque) and follow this to Flicquet and onwards to the crossroads.
Take the right turn into La Rue Du Scez and follow this down to La Saie Harbour. Where the tarmac road ends, turn left onto the footpath marked on the map as La Rue Des Fontonelles. Follow this footpath until it joins the road at the top of Rozel Hill. Turn right and walk down the hill, to Rozel village. On entering the village, follow the road to the right .
Continue through the village to the turning down to the Harbour. NB Public toilets are available at Rozel Harbour. From the village take Le Chemin Du Guet (signposted Cliff Path) up the hill past the entrance to Fort Rozel and then along La Rue Du Catel to a house called Le Catel. Turn right here immediately after a shed with two large white doors and a weather vane on the roadside end.
A footpath way mark post also marks this turn. Proceed to the White Rock car park. From the White Rock car park exit by the metal gate in the corner of the car park and proceed along the cliff path. The walk from here to Grosnez follows the public cliffpath and is well signposted. Note that by the sign "Son de la Mare - Private Property" our route is along the small path to the right and not the track that is marked "Private". Continue on the path to Bouley Bay. Here is the first checkpoint. Don't forget to check in and also check out!!
