Charity Projects

There are too many minor projects to list, and we presently have over 80 children under sponsorship in Zambia and 30 in Tanzania. These children are sponsored by Jersey and Guernsey Residents.

We also assist the projects that are listed below with regular infrastructure provision of essential items or to maintain the buildings.

1995
Zambia - Simeo Mwanakonde School – construction of 2 Teachers houses

1996
Zambia - Kawama (to be be named Kasenga) Primary School- construction of 2 x 1 classroom block & Two Teachers houses.

1997
Zambia - Chilubula Basic School- construction of 3 x 1 classroom block + plus provision of desks and books In conjunction with the ‘Bush Hospital Foundation provided Ambulance for St Fidelas Hospital. Construction of Charity House in Kasama.

1998
Zambia - Mwamba Rural Health Centre –construction of Rural Health Centrecompletion of Chipenge Women's Centre. Construction of Retail Unit consisting of 6 shops (Income from shops will help the sustainability of the Tetekela Centre)

Tanzania - Bishop Stanway School- construction of 2 x 1 classroom block+ 2 Teachers houses

2000
Zambia - Tetekela Day Care Centre –construction of Centre for street childrenand orphans. Build Mill shop + linked accommodation

Tanzania -  Bishop Stanway School- construction of additional classroom block and 2 Teachers

2001
Zambia - Further development of Tetekela Centre – installation of electricity and Plumbing and start of perimeter wall for centre .Centre officially opened in July by Minister Mkapa.

2002
Zambia  - Shipping of container to Tetekela Centre -containing computers, clothing, tools, bicycles and other equipment. Installation of computers to Tetekela centre and conversion of room .Construction of water tower, pump house and purchase and installation of water Tank and pump.

2003
Zambia - Kasenga School project. Construction of additional 2 x 1 classroom block + 2 Teachers' Houses. This will allow more children to attend 'bush' school

Zambia - Tetekela Centre Construction of Perimeter wall for 2/3 of the centre additional security for centre as it near a large town

Zambia - Community School project New roof for community school in Kasenga Village

Zambia - Chileshe Chepela Hanicapped School Provsion of hearing aids to deaf children at the school with the help of money provided by Doha College, Qatar

2005 Purchase outboard motor and life jackets for ministry boat on Lake Tanganyika (Mbala Port)

New roofs for 2 churches in Kasama region Construction of 2 x 1classroom block + 2 Teachers houses at Kasenga School Support Twimwe Project Kasama- buy mattresses and other goods for physically handicapped children and adults Continued maintenance of Tetekela Day Care Centre

Purchase of vehicle for use by African reps – 50/50 with JOAC

Purchase generator for Tetekela Centre

2008

2009 Completion of another classroom for Kasenga School. Extra desks for school.

2010 St Francis Xavier pre school ablution block 50/50 with JOAC

Hope to source funding for library block at Chileshe Chipela Special Needs School

 

The charity ‘Help an African Schoolchild Trust’ is non denominational and was officially formed in 1994 and presently works in Tanzania and Zambia.The Aim of the charity is to improve the living conditions,the educational standards and facilities in a number of Zambian and Tanzanian communities
