About Hast

The Aim of the charity is:
To improve the living conditions, the educational standards and facilities in a number of Zambian and Tanzanian communities

Life skills and vocational training

Earning a living is crucial, especially for teenagers in child-headed households looking after siblings at home. The charity supports vocational training for the street and OVS at our centre.

What we do

Our main project is helping and assisting street children and orphans in the northern town of Kasama in Northern Zambia.

Spectacles are heading for Africa
The charity has had a fantastic response to its collection of spectacles at both the Co-operative supermarkets in Jersey. We were able to advertise for a month for old spectacles, by the end of the month of January we had collected approx 600 pairs which is fantastic. These spectacles will be sent out to John Ntandu our charity representative in Tanzania and will be sold cheaply to raise funds or be given free to the most deserving.

This small collection will make a difference to people who need glasses but cannot afford them! Thank you to everyone who donated.

THIS YEAR JOIN US IN PERUThis trip is now full!

Registered walkers can check in any time between 8.00 and 9.00. It is a staggered start. Once you’ve checked in you can start walking!! Good Luck!

More information will be sent to you nearer the date, with your T-shirt if you have ordered one.. Enter your email address in the box to the right of this page to be kept up to date via email

This is a challenge for all the community! A challenge that should appeal to the very fit people; who have great endurance, down to the average walker who may see this as a personal walking challenge.

It is an INDIVIDUAL WALK – a challenge to every one in the community - 20 miles along the rugged North Coast of the island of Jersey, in the Channel Isles.

Please note: There is no run this year.

To complete this Charity Challenge will be a great personal achievement.

We hope to attract as many local people as possible, but also hope to attract people who visit our website and from our sister isle; Guernsey. If any web site visitors want to participate then please fill in the registration form. We will help you with accommodation (arrange a guest house or hotel for you, at your expense) but you will have to book your own flight!

This is our charity’s biggest fund raising event. The cost to enter the Challenge is £10 per person , this goes to provide water at watering stations and also a T-shirt as a memento of the event.

We hope that this is a great event and attracts many people. We need this fundraiser to get the funding for our Tetekela Day Care centre on a firmer footing, plus we want to add some classrooms to a school we built in 1996.

With your help we can achieve this. Have you got the determination to take on the challenge? Accept it and you will be helping others less fortunate than us.

In the local Bemba Language of Northern Zambia we say ‘Twatasha sana’ - thank you, in anticipation that you will accept the challenge. Things are there to be conquered - come and do it!
